Senior Section

The Senior Section hasn't been asleep, or worse.  Rather, your subcommittee has been at work lining up the mentoring opportunity with the St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center Residency Program!

The program director is planning on including the mentoring as an integral part of the Residency curriculum.  She will try to match up 1st year residents with Seniors for the duration of their training.  The interaction will be at a mutually acceptable time, frequency and activity.

To date two Seniors have participated in evaluating History and Physical by 2nd year students at Midwestern, Bill Lewine and Herb Winograd.  This almost lost art in the era of CTs and MRIs!  And they actually put stethoscope to skin!  As an added incentive they are offering $75.00/hr for this volunteer activity.  If you are interested in participating, please let Howard Kandell know at hnkandell@cox.net and he’ll have you get in touch with Dr. Howard Schulman, the director of this activity.  We can keep track of who is involved that way.

We are on our way to meaningful Senior activities!
