Chapter CME Activities
In 2007, AzAAP, in joint sponsorship with AAP, offered several CME Conferences in Northern, Central and Southern Arizona. All were made possible by the hard work of the CME Committee which was chaired by Dr. Ron Fischler.
The CME Committee, now chaired by Dr. Mary Rimsza, and Chapter Social Events Committee are hard at work planning CME opportunities for pediatric healthcare providers in 2008. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this screen to see what's coming up in the next year.

Pediatric Sports Medicine Conference
May 5, 2007
Chandler Center for the Arts
Chandler High School
Chandler, AZ
This past May, the chapter held its first Pediatric Sports Medicine Conference. It would not have been possible without the leadership of Dr. Gary Auxier and Dr. Delphis Richardson who both worked tirelessly in making sure it was a success.
Attendees participated in didactic educational session in the morning on the following topics: Evaluation of the Shoulder, Evaluation of the Knee, Evaluation of the Foot and Ankle, Drug Use and Supplements and Head Injuries. Following a fiesta buffet in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, attendees performed free pre-participation examinations on low income Arizona students under the supervision of certified sports medicine doctors.
Attendees of this conference noted the applicability this conference would have on their practice. They found being able to practice on live patients what was learned in the first portion of the conference extremely helpful. Attendees also noted and appreciated the extensive amount of time allowed to interact with the distinguished faculty in the pre-participation examination portion of the conference.
This conference was made possible by a grant from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. We also thank the many volunteers from San Marcos Health Clinic who helped organize our student athletes.
