AzAAP Pediatric Sports Medicine Conference

Receive Hands-On Training by Certified Sports Medicine Physicians!

The Pediatric Sports Medicine Conference is jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Arizona Chapter (AzAAP).  It is a 1-day post-graduate course designed for the pediatric primary care provider.

The Pediatric Sports Medicine Conference is divided into two separate portions.  The first portion of the conference will be held at the Chandler Center for the Arts.  This portion will combine lectures, case presentations and question and answer sessions.  Topics covered in this portion include:

  • Fluids/ Heat
  • Drug Testing and Supplements
  • Head Injuries
  • Examination of the Knee
  • Examination of the Foot/ Ankle
  • Examination of the Shoulder

After a noon lunchbreak, attendees will take the short walk to Chandler High School where students will be waiting to receive sports physicals.  During the second portion of the conference, physicians will be able to practice what they learn in the morning under the supervision of certified Sports Medicicine Doctors.  The "hands on" training received should allow for attendees to feel torn ACL/ MCL, lax shoulder and other orthopedic deformities on actual patients!

This activity has been approved for AMA PRA category 1 credits toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award.  Each physician should claim only those credits that he/ she actually spent in the activity

If you would like to receive more information about this conference please contact Rebecca Nevedale at 602-265-1950 or rebecca.nevedale@azaap.org
