PEDIATRIC CARDIAC ICU NURSE PRACTITIONER
The Scott and Laura Eller Congenital Heart Center of the Heart & Lung Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a pediatric nurse practitioner.
Over 300 congenital heart surgeries performed in 2005 with outcomes among the best in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons national database. A new state-of-the-art 24-bed cardiac intensive care unit will be opening in the summer 2007 with full service care for patients with congenital heart disease.
Qualifications: Registered in AZ as pediatric nurse practitioner. Certified as nurse practitioner under AZ regulations license. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with training in pediatrics who ideally have additional training or focus in cardiology and/or intensive care.
Responsibilities: Direct bedside care of patients with congenital heart disease from admission to discharge under the direct supervision of cardiac surgeons, intensivists and cardiologists. Opportunity to perform and assist with procedures such as intubations, conscious sedation, placing of central venous and arterial lines, chest tubes and pericardial tubes.

Pediatric Hospitalists- Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) and the Division of Hospitalist Medicine is seeking BE/BC hospitalists in both academic and community-based hospital medicine.
Responsibilities include admission and management of general pediatric patients, consultation on specialty and surgical patients and supervising and teaching of medical students and residents. Inpatient coverage is based on a shift model and there are no PICU, NICU or nursery responsibilities. Ideal candidates for academic opportunities will have inpatient clinical experience and interest in teaching, research/academic projects and/or quality improvement projects. Faculty serve a large role in medical education including the training of a large Pediatrics and Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Programs as well as medical students from the University of Arizona.
The Hospitalist Division currently consists of 14 hospitalists with the potential to expand both within PCH as well as community hospital affiliates. Phoenix Children’s is a 300 bed free-standing hospital in an exciting time of physician and programmatic expansion. Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States and a rapidly growing metropolitan area with a variety of exciting indoor and outdoor activities.
